Our new chick hotel!

 Myla and Cash know how to get stuff done - what an awesome team! It only took 2 weekends for them to whip up the Cadillac of brooders!!

What is a brooder you ask? Well, when chicks are born, they can't self-regulate their body temperature, so they need to spend a few weeks protected from the elements, with a little extra heat (kinda like being at a resort in Mexico). A brooder provides the environment for this.

In true Boreal Ranch form, we didn't mess around and went straight to the master (Mr. Joel Salatin) to get our design. This is the Hilton of brooders - complete with a heater, heat lamps, windows (so that the chicks can bask in the sunlight and get into their natural circadian rhythm ASAP) and roof panels that open so that we can slowly begin to expose them, in a controlled way, to the elements, which will help them build their strength quickly and become happy, hardy birds that will thrive outside on our pasture.

So, now we are ready to host our new guests that arrive next week!!! Warms my heart to see youth step up, contribute and grow their talents you rock Myla and Cash!!
