In 1996 Megan and Rob met just a short walk from where their ranch will soon be built. We have been together ever since. Our first home together was a 23 acre property just south of Winnipeg. There, we grew our passion for gardening, preserving, foraging, cooking, entertaining, raising animals, while working corporate jobs in the city. In 2009 we welcomed Joe to the family, and in 2010 Cash came along - 2 other people to cook for now!! As a young family, we enjoyed visiting France and the Caribbean regularly, where we experienced amazing food and many new exciting outdoor adventures together. But we always seemed to gravitate back to the lake or out to our gardens and acreage.
When the pandemic hit, the family consensus was to head out to the cabin. Funny enough, we never went back home. We quickly came to the realization that now, more than ever, the health of human kind and the planet needed some serious attention. We also felt that we had the skills, knowledge and drive to be a part of a solution that focuses on root cause and the most basic of human needs. So as a family, we made some serious decisions. We sold the acreage, moved to the cabin permanently, and bought a 100 acre piece of land just down the road. Our boys took a year away from school to try homeschooling. Megan left the corporate world to focus on growing her coaching business and developing two other businesses that our family had envisioned having for some time.
After years of putting our true passions and dreams on the backburner of life, we've come back to where WE started to make our dream a reality. We’re taking everything that we’ve learned from our travels, from our experiences in the corporate world and hospitality industry, from our health and wellness research and from our time on a smaller acreage to build a place where plants, animals and humans can grow in the most natural way possible. This place, our new home, is a place that starts and ends with our rich Manitoba soil and climate to produce the highest quality, locally-grown meat, vegetables, fruits, and experiences.
We’ve got a lot of work ahead of us to bring this bare piece of land to where we want it to be. We know that we’ve got a lot to learn. But, we are worth it...and we trust that our beliefs in regenerative agriculture, our respect for nature and the environment, our love of food, and our drive to live the best, most high quality life possible will support us on this learning journey – and we would like nothing more than for you to experience this journey along with us.
