So much happening!! (and stay tuned for an exciting announcement!!).
The past 2 weeks at the ranch have been wild!!
All of our 150 chicks are hanging out in the brooder. They are happy, growing and getting used to colder temperatures. We have the brooder well regulated, and everybody (except the turkeys) is is set to be moved to the field next week.
I started tapping birch trees for sap. Rob and I learned that birch sap (which is only 1% sugar, so mostly water) makes a nice refreshing drink that is full of minerals and magnesium! So we have been drinking a lot of birch water. I also made my first batch of birch syrup! The syrup tastes great - not too sweet and a unique after note.
I am pretty much living at the ranch and we are figuring out ways to make homeschooling work.
We’ve started our plan to make a few more improvements to the ranch in preparation for a new offering that we will be announcing this weekend at the Great Outdoor Expo in Lac du Bonnet.
The sandhill cranes are back and it looks like we have 2 pairs on our property this year.
Rob found a perfect trailer and work on the eggmobile is scheduled to get started this weekend.
Despite how much we have going on, both Rob and I have been surprised at how we seem to feel more and more energetic. Maybe it’s our passion and love for what we are doing…….or maybe there is something magical in that birch sap?
