Plan to work, work to plan.

After a month of spending a lot of time with J.M. Fortier (unfortunately only via book and youtube, but maybe one day we will make it out to Québec to meet him), we completed our plans and layout for our market garden.  J.M. Fortier, AKA “The Market Gardener”, is the Canadian expert in building a sustainable and profitable market garden. 

Plan in hand, several afternoons were spent walking the property at the ranch measuring and staking out the area that will one day be our market garden.  If felt important to have the entire market garden planned out and staked, since we are planning to build permanent beds and want to make sure we do this once and right the first time.  So although the entire garden is now laid out, this summer our focus will be on getting 1-3 plots ready to plant. Healthy soil is the key to having a productive garden and is our main focus for this year.
